Small-town power struggle continues in Fairview
It’s being called a small-town power struggle.
Three members of the Fairview Board of Aldermen – Bill Canoy, Pam McNee and Tammy O’Brien – are trying to impeach Alderman Raymond Stapleton for allegedly breaking the Sunshine Law.
They claim he has held illegal meetings at his home. But Mayor Ashley Rodgers says the gatherings never had a quorum and as a result, are legally unimpeachable.
The issue could come to a head at a meeting scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in Fairview, a town of about 400 residents located between Neosho and Cassville.
That’s not all that’s going on: As a result of citizen petitions, Fairview also is undergoing an audit by Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway’s office.
