Hostage situation in Stone County leaves suspect dead

KIMBERLING CITY, MO โ€“ Authorities say a Missouri state trooper shot and killed a man who was suspected of holding his roommate hostage after an hours-long standoff at a condo in the southwest part of the state.

KYTV reports that Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader said that when the suspect fired shots shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, law enforcement used a stun grenade that produces a bright flash and loud noise.

The patrol says one trooper then shot the suspect in an exchange of gunfire.

The coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.

His name wasnโ€™t immediately released. .
