Bridge replacement will begin in Cherokee County starting March 4
Six bridges will be replaced through out the project.
Beginning Thursday, March 4, the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a project to replace six bridges on U.S. Highway 166 in Cherokee County, according to a release from KDOT.
The project area starts 1/4 mile east of the Labette-Cherokee county line and continues east for 2.3 miles.
These bridges will be replaced three at a time, with traffic reduced to one lane as the project is completed.
The replacement of the first three bridges should be completed by November of 2021.
The project will be suspended over the winter months, and work on the remaining three bridges will resume in 2022.
The contract of $14.8 million was awarded to Bridges Inc. of Newton.
