Spire gas being restored in Carl Junction after line break injured worker

Work continues to fully restore gas service to the Carl Junction area.

It stemmed from when a Southern Star Gas Pipeline experienced a pressure break, which led to an explosion Friday morning just south of the Fir Road and Lone Elm intersection.

As of Sunday afternoon, Lone Elm near the intersection remains closed as a new line is put into place.

The incident seriously injured a worker but fortunately, he is expected to survive.

While most in the area have had their gas restored, according to Spire’s website:

“Approximately 1,200 customers are impacted by the outage. We wanted to update you on the temporary natural gas outage to the Carl Junction area.

Spire technicians have largely completed reconnecting service in the area. While we were able to reconnect a vast majority of customers, we’ve posted door hangers with next steps for those we were unable to reach. Those customers are encouraged to call 800-582-1234 and press 1 to schedule a reconnection.”
