Pittsburg traffic stop results in drug discovery.

Three individuals were arrested during the incident.

A traffic stop conducted by the Pittsburg Police Department Friday, February 19 resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the discovery of drug paraphernalia in their vehicle.

The stop took place at 400 Block of E 22nd Street; As the vehicle stopped 34-year-old Boby Hawkins, of Pittsburg, fled on foot. The other occupants of the vehicle, 27-year-old Sedrick Johnson, of Pittsburg, and 29-year-old Donnie R Kyles Jr, also of Pittsburg, also attempted to exit the vehicle and were detained.

Hawkins returned to the vehicle a short time later.

A police service dog was deployed on the scene, which then indicated the presence of illegal substances; A search of the vehicle resulted in several items believed to be hallucinogenic mushrooms, over half-a-pound of marijuana, and related drug paraphernalia being located.

Hawkins was arrested for felony distribution of controlled substances, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and felony interference with law enforcement. 

Mr. Johnson was arrested for an unrelated arrest warrant out of Mississippi.

Hawkings and Johnson were both transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Hawkings was later released on a $25,000 bond and Johnson is currently being held without bond.

Kyles was released from the scene without charges.
