Water back on in Carterville
The water is back on in Carterville. That’s according to an announcement on the city’s Facebook page today.
Problems that developed during the recent cold snap led to customers losing their dependable source of H2O.
City workers have been pumping water to refill the city’s water tower. They say if residents notice the water has a brown color, they should let the tap run for a bit to clear out sediment that may have developed in the pipes.
Carterville remains on a boil order until further notice.
City officials extend their thanks to volunteers who have braved intensely cold temperatures over the last week to fix the problems.
The Facebook message also includes a huge “thank you” to Wal-Mart for supplying cases of water to Carterville residents over the last week.
