Downstream Casino to remain open, will serve as lodging as more snow approaches

Downstream Casino Resort says that they will stay open for motorists on I-44 and for guests that are already staying on property as more wintry weather approaches the area.

The casino portion of property will stay open but with reduced power usage by allowing only a limited number of gaming machines to stay operational.

In a press release, Downstream says “In an unprecedented weather event that is affecting most of the Midwest, the discussion over whether Downstream Casino Resort should remain open has been at the forefront of discussions among our executive leadership and the Quapaw Nation Business Committee. After numerous calls with local power and energy cooperatives, it was decided that Downstream will remain open. The property is on a designated power grid complete with backup generators.”
