Fire causes major damage at Miami’s Power-Up Rental store

Fire Sunday morning caused major damage to the Power-Up Rental store at 1120 N. Main Street in Miami.

Fire Chief Robert Wright says the call came in at 4:37 a.m. He says the inferno had already breached the roof by the time firefighters arrived. Two ladder trucks were used to put out the fire.

He says the building suffered heavy damage but, thanks to the efforts of firefighters, the fire did not spread to the adjoining Dollar General Store.

He says most of the equipment inside the Power-Up store was spared.

Miami firefighters were assisted by firefighters from the Quapaw Nation. The Miami Police Department also responded to the call.

Crews were on the scene till after 11 a.m. Chief Wright says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
