Long says anti-vaxxers resist the truth about the COVID-19 vaccines
Even as the nation scrambles for COVID-19 vaccinations, a certain percentage of the population still thinks the coronavirus and the shots are largely a hoax.
Missouri Congressman Billy Long says getting the word to these people could be difficult.
“I don’t know if it’s a message that would ever reach them,” Long says.
“When Henry Aaron, the home-run king, died the other day, Robert Kennedy, Jr. [said] ‘Hank Aaron got the Pfizer vaccine 13 days before he died and that’s what killed him.’
“People like Robert Kennedy, Jr. are anti-vaxxers,” Long stated. “Everyone has to take personal responsibility.”
Anti-vaxxers are people who believe that vaccines are unsafe and infringe on their human rights. They typically deny the existence or validity of the science supporting their use in the general population.
The popularity of these opinions is hard to measure. However, only a small number of people in the United States are likely to express these views. Over 91 percent of parents have their children vaccinated.
Long visited Joplin’s Freeman Health System on Tuesday as part of a multi-city tour of hospitals in southwest Missouri.
