Joplin resident arrested on Sunday for alleged assault

A 50-year-old Joplin resident was arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Reports say that Daniel Howerton was leaving his residence, located in the 1600 block of North St. Louis Avenue, as police arrived at the area after reports of a disturbance involving a gun.

Officers arrived at the scene, and after a short pursuit Howerton was taken into custody.

Published reports say that Howerton and his wife were in an argument inside their vehicle as they traveled home, when he allegedly hit and choked her.
