Oklahoma to work with minority community leaders to ensure vaccine access
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma health officials say they plan to work with retailers and faith leaders in minority communities to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.
Deputy Health Commissioner Keith Reed says the state health department plans to unveil vaccine dispensing sites in minority communities in the coming weeks.
He’s also encouraging Oklahomans to fill out information on their ethnicity when registering for a vaccine on the state’s online vaccine portal.
Oklahoma health officials reported 4,157 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 44 deaths on Saturday, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 370,149 and the state’s death toll to 3,231.
