St. Louis woman arrested after armed robbery at Joplin store

A woman from St. Louis was arrested in Joplin after an alleged armed robbery. Read the full press release below:

On January 19th, 2021 at approximately 6:55 pm, officers with the Joplin Police Department responded to Academy Sports & Outdoors at 1717 S. Rangeline Road for a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers quickly arrived on scene and located the female suspect fleeing from the store. She was apprehended a short distance later.

During the investigation, it was found that the suspect, Tiffany M. Madison, age 34 of St. Louis, Missouri, was concealing merchandise in the store and was confronted by an employee. Madison then grabbed a knife from the shelf in the store, removed it from the packaging, and used it to threaten the employee. Madison then fled the store with the merchandise and the knife.

Madison was transported to the Joplin City Jail and charges are being sought for Robbery in the 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Resisting Arrest.
