Saturday chase ends with suspect surrender.

A lengthy standoff between Carterville police and an unknown suspect caused traffic delays Saturday night.

The event started in Carterville and ended in front of the Northpark Mall in Joplin.

Originally, a traffic stop was conducted, which evolved into a police pursuit. The driver stopped at a Casey’s in Webb City, where the driver’s window was broken.

The suspect fled, had their tires spiked, and continued at a slow rate of speed before coming to a stop in front of the North Park Mall.

The driver surrendered from there.
