New roundabout coming to Carthage
Schreiber Foods, set to expand, will foot half the bill
If you live or work in Carthage, get ready for a new roundabout.
It will be on Fir Road near its intersection with the southbound ramps to I-49 and Dr. Russell Smith Way, the street that leads to Mercy Hospital Carthage.
The City Council has approved on first reading a memorandum of understanding for the roundabout, as well major improvements on Hazel Avenue.
The City and MoDot will share the nearly $2,700,000 thousand dollar cost of the roundabout with Schreiber Foods that will be expanding its facility in Carthage.
Schreiber also will pay for half of the Hazel Avenue improvements.
Schreiber, which began as a small company in 1945, provides dairy favorites to a worldwide market at more than 8,000 locations across North America, Europe, South America and Asia.
Final approval of the roundabout creation/street improvement deal is expected at the Carthage City Council’s January 26th meeting.
