Vehicle in SE Kansas drive-by shooting located; Suspect still at large
PARSONS – Police in Parsons say they have found the car driven in a reported drive-by shooting at a home in Cherryvale Friday night.
Even though the car has been found, authorities continue to look for the person or persons driving and occupying it.
The shooting resulted in a wound to the face and ear of Zach Hammond, who lives on West Fifth Street in Cherryvale. Hammond and his father David were working outside at the time the attack took place. The younger Hammond was taken by helicopter to a Joplin hospital.
He was able to give the description of the tan Lincoln that was found in the 3100 block of Dirr Street in Parsons.
Hammond was later flown to a Joplin hospital for further medical treatment.
The Montgomery County Chronicle reports that other Cherryvale area residents showed pictures of the purported suspect vehicle and a person standing by the vehicle on Facebook. It is unknown if the car and the person in the picture were the same as those involved in the crime.
