Man wielding knife shot dead in Jefferson City.
A Sunday morning disturbance in Jefferson City led to the death of a man.
Just after 11:45 AM Sunday, the Jefferson City Police Department responded to a call of a man with a large knife at 3535 Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The officers issued verbal commands to the suspect, who was presenting the knife in a threatening manner.
After the suspect ignored their verbal commands, the officers feared for their safety and fired their weapons.
The suspect was identified as 59-year-old Columbia resident James Reising, who was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, where he was later pronounced deceased.
No officers were injured during the incident.
