Oklahoma bars, restaurants granted reprieve from curfew
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma bar and restaurants have effectively won a temporary reprieve from a curfew that has been forcing them to close early since November.
A state judge sided with a group of bar owners Friday, granting them a 12-day stay on Gov. Kevin Stitt’s order that bars and restaurants not serve food or alcohol after 11 p.m.
The curfew is aimed at curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
The Oklahoman reports the judge’s ruling only applied to the six plaintiffs in the case.
But Oklahoma Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission Director Keith Burt says the agency won’t not enforce the curfew anywhere for now.
