Salem, Mo couple charged in death of 10-year-old

A Salem couple is being charged with second-degree murder after the death of a 10-year-old, according to court documents.

Originally, charges of abuse or neglect of a child were filed against Randall and Susan Abney.

The Dent Count Coroner’s Office had reported that 10-year-old Josie Abney weighed less than 35 pounds when she collapsed when she died.

The couple is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 21, 2021.
