Car chase – shots fired

Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings tells Newstalk KZRG that 34 year old Daniel Michael Duran and 24 year old Gabriela Espinoza of Mesa, Arizona are in custody following a car chase with shots fired at a deputy.   According to Sheriff Jennings, Newton County deputies had been informed of an armed robbery of a convenience store in Oklahoma and to be on the lookout for the possible robbers.   Jasper County deputies were able to deploy stop sticks around Sarcoxie on Interstate 44 leading to the stopping of the vehicle.    Two young kids were in the vehicle that was being chased.  They were put into protective custody.  The two adults are being held in the Newton County jail.
