Physician says vaccine benefits outweigh dangers

Vaccine from Pfizer could be shipped to Missouri late next week and vaccine from Moderna will be up for approval within a few days.

In Oklahoma, Integris Hospital Medical Director of Infection Prevention, Dr. David Chansolme, said the benefits of taking the shots far outweigh the dangers.

“It would not be uncommon to experience some fever, some soreness at the injection site,” Dr. Chansolm said in a video sent out late last week by Integris.

“They did see, maybe a little higher than with most vaccines, that some people after the second shot, got some fevers and chills that lasted about 3 to 8 hours,” he continued. “They felt kind of sick. They were achy. But believe me that’s a lot better than getting COVID.”

Dr. Chansolme says with over 200,000 cases developing per day in the United States, the goal is to get the vaccine out as soon as possible.
