Four in custody following Monday afternoon robbery, manhunt

Four people are under arrest following a robbery and a manhunt Monday afternoon in Joplin.

It began around 4 p.m. after a citizen was robbed on the parking lot of the Northpark Mall at 101 N. Range Line Road.

After brief chase by police, four people – three men and one woman – bailed out of a car with out of state plates in the vicinity of Zora and Range Line Road.

Police quickly took three of the four into custody.

Officers then  began to search the neighborhood for a black male possibly armed with a handgun.  It ended with a complaint from a citizen who lives less than 50 yards from the police perimeter.

Joplin Police Capt. William Davis says the man was found hiding in the laundry room of a house near Zora and Range Line Road.

Capt. Davis says no one was injured. No names were released Monday evening.

The investigation remains underway.
