Watch out for Black Friday shopping scams

It’s Black Friday and many Missourians will be looking for deals online. The Better Business Bureau’s Bao Vang says scams are on the rise this time of year

“Research before you buy, 57% of those who didn’t research the website or business, using an independent source before making the purchase, well 81% of them lost money.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most consumers are expected to do some or all of their holiday shopping online. According to the National Retail Federation, Missourians are expected to spend about $1,000 on holiday shopping this year.

Plus, Vang says  “If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is, the enticement of a great sales price was the top reason in our latest report of online shopping that victims purchased a product and lost money.”

Vang recommends researching the website or business on BBB.org before buying.
