St. Louis woman is named Rhodes Scholar.

A woman who bounced around between many foster homes as a child and frequently slept on the couches of friends in Missouri has been named a 2021 Rhodes Scholar.

Published sources report that 23-year-old Mackenzie Fierceton is one of only 32 U.S. college students that were awarded a four-year scholarship for graduate studies at the University of Oxford in England. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in May and is currently working towards her Master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

Fiercton said she had foster homes in several St. Louis area municipalities, including Manchester, Clayton, and Creve Coeur.

She called the teachers at her school parental figures who were there for her when she needed them the most.
