The controversy over Joplin’s mask mandate continues.
A citizen group hopes to gather just over 7,600 signatures of registered voters in Joplin to force a recall vote for all six City Council members who voted in favor of the mandate last week.
Spokeswoman Abby Covington says the group feels the members violated the Federal and State Constitutions by not protecting the rights of citizens and, as a result, deserve to be removed from office.
Covington says if the signatures are properly collected, a recall election could take place sometime in April.
