A car overturned and damaged an electric pole Wednesday afternoon in Newton County.
Just after 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Newton County Central Dispatch was alerted to a report of a single-vehicle crash in Western Newton County along Iris Road.
Reports indicated that the vehicle had flipped over and broke an electric pole.
Redings Mil Fire District, Newton County Deputies, and Newton County Ambulance all responded to the scene.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said that they heard a noise and looked up just in time to see the car in the air as it broke the pole. The witness then called 911 and assisted the driver.
The single occupant of the vehicle, a female driver, received minor injuries and declined transport to the hospital by ambulance.
This vehicle was traveling eastbound near 2800 Iris Road, approaching Antelope Road when the crash occurred.
New Mac Electric crews responded to the scene immediately to address active power lines. The roadway was completely shut down after about two hours.
