Freeman Health System adds a new maternal and fetal medicine specialist

Dr. Shayna Conner will join Freeman Health System as a new maternal and fetal medicine specialist.

Dr. Conner comes to the Joplin area from St. Louis, after attending medical school at the University of Missouri. She completed her residency at Washington University and previously worked at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.U

“At Freeman, I will be performing amniocentesis, which is done in utero, for the purpose of genetic diagnosis,” Dr. Conner told published sources. “An additional procedure that can now be performed here at Freeman is cerclage placement. A cerclage is a procedure where a stitch/suture is placed around the cervix to decrease the risk for preterm birth in specific cases.”
