Former Cub Scout leader sentenced for sexual abuse of children

A Cub Scout leader is someone you can trust.

However, that was NOT the case for 51-year-old Matthew Baker of St. Charles.

Baker, a former Cub Scout leader, was sentenced today after he pleaded guilty to several counts of child molestation, statutory sodomy, witness tampering and exposing himself to a child.

Baker admitted to sexually abusing the five children at his home, including relatives, in O’Fallon from 2010 to 2018.

Police say he also tried to arrange from jail to have someone attack two children to keep them from testifying against him.
