Flags flying at half-staff today in Kansas for a fallen hero.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signed Executive Order 20-30, ordering flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Thursday, November 12th, 2020.

The order was in honor of the service and sacrifice of Leavenworth County Deputy Daniel Abramovitz. Officer Abramovitz was killed in the line of duty on October 30 when his department vehicle collided with the side of a school bus that failed to yield at an intersection.

Corporal Abramovitz had served with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office for 26 years and was scheduled to retire in four months.

Most recently, Abramovitz worked in the Investigations Division and focused his efforts on sex crimes and crimes involving children. He is survived by his wife, Carol, and three adult children — Chrissy, Randi and Raymond — as well as two siblings.

Our thoughts and prayers continue for Deputy Abramovitz’s family, community and colleagues.
