Tomorrow we honor our Men and Woman of the Armed Forces
America’s veterans ARE being honored tomorrow for Veteran’s Day. In the Four-State area because of COVID-19 there have been several constellations, changes and revamping.
The Joplin Veteran’s Day Parade, originally scheduled for last Saturday, was canceled a few weeks ago by Robert S. Thurman Post 13 and Friends of Joplin Community Veterans. However, even though there will not be a parade in Joplin, one local veteran will be honored each day this month with photos and a bio on the Joplin Community Veterans Day Parade Facebook page
Tomorrow there will be a two hour observance in the Billingsly Student Center’s Connor Ballroom at MSSU for faculty, staff and students only. Employees and students are also asked to show their support for veterans by wearing a yellow ribbon available on campus.
In Sarcoxie, longtime government bugler Keith Garber will play taps at 11 a.m. at the Sarcoxie Veterans Memorial, on the southwest corner of the square. The public is invited to attend.
But, in Pittsburg the traditional PSU Veterans Memorial observance will not be held. Instead at 11 a.m. Pittsburg State University will present a Veterans Day broadcast that will air on TV and online. The program will feature several veterans from World War II, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm and military activities in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program is viewable online at The Pitt State youtube page or on Pitts State TV . It’s also available online at the PSU Veterans Memorial Facebook page .
For those wanting to make a day of it, Branson’s plans to hold its 88th annual Veterans Day parade are moving full steam ahead. The parade begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Branson Landing.
