Three airlines make bids to serve Joplin Airport
It’s convenient to fly out of Joplin, but on what airline?
Three air carriers have submitted bids to provide service to the Joplin airport.
They include American, the current carrier, which would provide service to and from Dallas. The second is United’s Sky West which commonly connects with Chicago and Denver hubs.
Rounding out the list is Boutique Airline which flies smaller turboprops to Dallas.
American announced this summer it would suspend flights which led to the bidding process.
The airline selected can get federal subsidies for providing air service at the Joplin airport.
The DOT will make the final decision. New service would begin next spring.
