New laws take effect tomorrow in Oklahoma
Hundreds of new laws usually take effect every year in Oklahoma, but there will be only around 60 this year because legislators couldn’t meet as much due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Oklahoman reports that the new laws will become operative on Nov. 1.
One law that updates court proceedings was brought on by the pandemic.
It allows for video conferencing in district courts in every stage of civil and criminal proceedings.
Another clamps down on people who steal parcels from outside people’s homes, an act that has become prevalent with an increase in online shopping.
