MERIC reported continued decline in unemployment
The jobs keep on coming back. The unemployment rate in Joplin continues its 5-month decline, which hit 4.2% in September, according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. Also reported by MERIC was that 3,462 people, in the Jasper and Newton County areas, were unemployed in September, which is a decrease from August’s unemployment count. That number was previously tallied at 4,950. Nationwide unemployment fell to 7.9% in September, which is down 8.4% from August.
