Two arrested following Parsons apartment fracas

On Monday, Oct, 26, at approximately 8:54 p.m., Parsons Police were called to Prairie Village Apartments at 1100 S 13th Street for a report of an argument with a weapon involved.

Officers arrived at the apartment complex and spoke to a witness who denied anything was taking place or that anything had happened. Without any evidence of a crime having taken place, officers left the apartment complex.

Later, they were called back. It was soon discovered that there had been a physical domestic fight that had taken place with children present. Further investigation discovered that a woman was forcefully taken from the laundry room area back to an apartment by a man with a gun. The suspect allegedly used the firearm to hit the female in the head and then grabbed her around the neck cutting off her air supply. The man was reported to have kicked and stomped on her body as well.

During the incident, the suspect fired the gun at a closet in the apartment.

The female was later able to escape and had a local neighbor call the police.

Police were able to locate and arrest Nahum Nehemiah Brown, 28 year old male of Parsons, for Aggravated Domestic Battery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Criminal Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Dwelling, Aggravated Endangering a Child, Aggravated Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Dakeshia Shantae Reece, 28 years old of Parsons, was also arrested for felony Interference with Law Enforcement and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The five children that were at the apartment were placed with family members.Officials have been notified about the children and police are working with Department of Children and Families (DCF).
