A swing and a miss as an emergency declaration strikes out last night
The proposal from Parkwood Tournament, LLC to operate Joplin baseball stadiums on an emergency basis will not happen. Parkwood was trying to secure the vote to begin scheduling upcoming tournaments.
The proposal failed last night at the Joplin City Council meeting when the six votes necessary to pass a motion couldn’t be secured. Even though the motion was passed by a majority vote of 5-4 vote, to be passed as an emergency it needed one more vote.Mayor Ryan Stanley and council members Gary Shaw, Keenan Cortez Phil Stinnett and Doug Lawson all voted in favor of the measure.
Now, the proposal must go through normal channels at the next meeting and must have multiple readings and will span over several scheduled meetings.
