Shooting death investigation underway in Carthage

A homicide investigation is underway after Carthage Police find a shooting victim in an alley.

Carthage Police responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of Garrison shortly before 9pm last night. There, in the alley, they found  30-year-old John Morgan suffering with a gunshot wound. Morgan was pronounced dead at that scene.

Several people were detained and an area canvas was completed. Carthage Police have at least one person in custody who is described as a person of interest.

The investigation continues. An autopsy will be performed by the Jasper County Corner and we will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
