Crash in Vernon County claims the life of a Nevada man

One person was seriously injured and another killed in an accident around 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon in Vernon County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 28-year-old Nevada resident Andrew Jeffery was driving a 2015 Ford Mustang southbound on I49. Jeffery was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and skidded off the left side of the roadway. He then hit the median, vaulted over the northbound lanes, struck a ditch, overturned several times, and was ejected. His passenger 28-year-old Pleasant Hope resident Maggie Brown sustained serious injuries and transported to Nevada Regional Medical Center and treated for her injuries. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
