Teens arrested in the murder of 15-year-old
We previously reported that two teens killed a 15 year old Carthage boy after the three of them had broken out of a mental health facility. Those two teens have been charged. Originally, the three individuals were clients of Great Circle, an establishment that helps teenagers deal with behavioral problems. On September 16th, the three ran away from the Great Circle facility. 17-year-old Cody Armistead and 18-year-old Enoch Phillips returned the next day, September 17, without the 15-year-old Carthage boy. They told staff they didn’t know where the Carthage Boy was, but Armistead confided in another client that they had killed the boy.
In an follow up interview with the Armistead and Phillips, Phillips was said to have struck the boy with a closed fist, then they both struck him several times while he was on the ground. Phillips and Armistead then proceeded to take turns strangling the boy while he was rolled over, until he was deceased. Armistead will have a preliminary hearing November 9th. Phillips’ is scheduled for arraignment October 6th.
