Missouri’s Agriculture Director Discusses Meat Processing
Missouri’s director of agriculture says the shift to smaller meat processors during the early days of the pandemic created consumer demand that hasn’t gone away. Chris Chinn, who farms in northeast Missouri’s Clarence, notes the state Legislature authorized CARES Act funding for those processors:
Chinn describes the CARES Act as a silver lining of the pandemic. Imperial State Representative Dan Shaul, who heads the Missouri Grocers Association, says Missourians are interested in locally raised and locally harvested agricultural products.
