Neosho man killed after collision

A 21-year-old Neosho man was injured and later succumbed to his injures Wednesday evening around 7:48pm. The accident occurred on Business 49 Highway, near the intersection of Waldo Hatler Memorial Drive. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that 21-year-old Joel L Shannon had been struck by a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander. This vehicle was driven by Trae Renner, also of the Neosho area.  Authorities reported that Shannon was struck in the roadway. Witnesses stated that Shannon stepped out in the front of the vehicle as it approached. Shannon was transported by ambulance, where he succumbed to his injuries.
