Semi Tanker Rolls Over
A semi tanker roll over last sent local authorities into a frenzy late last night. The incident happened on I-49 near 54.2 MM. Carthage Fire Department, Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies, Mercy EMS, Carthage Police responded. Missouri State Highway Patrol and MoDOT Emergency Response were all notified at 11:45pm Tuesday night. The tanker was carrying a full load of Anhydrous. Anhydrous is considered to be a hazardous material. The driver was taken to Mercy in Carthage, treated for minor injuries, and was then released. Initially, the cabin of the truck ignited in fire. It was controlled by the Carthage Fire Department. In the crash, the cab had separated from the tanker by approximately 150 ft. The tanker is not leaking and didn’t catch fire. A Oklahoma company is set to deal with the anhydrous. M&M Wrecker will remove the empty tanker from the crash scene.
