Joplin man dies after being hit by car

A man from Joplin has died from his injuries after being hit by a car Monday. Read the full press release below:

On Monday, September 7th, Officers were called to the 200 block of Main for a vehicle versus
pedestrian crash. A southbound Hyundai Accent collided with a pedestrian in the middle of the
block causing injury to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for
treatment for his injuries. The occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.

Upon initial investigation, it appears that the pedestrian was running across Main Street between 2nd and 3rd streets, crossing in front of the southbound vehicle when the collision occurred. On Wednesday,
September 9th the pedestrian died of those injuries. The pedestrian has been identified as Jerome
Knight, age 47, of Joplin, and his next of kin has been notified.

This crash marks the 10th fatal crash for the year 2020.
