Pedestrian struck by train in Neosho
Flown by helicopter to Springfield hospital . . . .
A pedestrian was hit by a Kansas City Southern train after 9 p.m. Saturday night near Highway 60 and Pineville Road on the south side of Neosho.
The man, who appeared to be in his 20s, had to be extracted from beneath the train, according to Neosho Police Sgt. Richard Leavens.
“He was conscious when the officers arrived on scene but wasn’t able to hold a complete conversation with them,” Sgt. Leavens states.
“The last account from the officers there was that he was still alive and headed for medical attention,” he adds.
Sgt. Leavens says the man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken by helicopter to a Springfield hospital.
The injured man’s condition is not known at this time.
This is a developing story. Details will be added as they become available.
