The White House is once again urging Missouri to do more about Covid-19

The latest report from the White House coronavirus task force has elevated its recommendations for Missouri.

As students head back to college, and the parties and bars increase in popularity, the numbers of positive covid cases are jumping in college towns. That’s one reason the task force said  “Bars must be closed” in its Aug. 30 update. They also strongly urge “Mask mandates across the state must be in place to decrease transmission.”

Gov Mike Parson has resisted the calls for a statewide mandate.

The group says university towns need a comprehensive plan to test all returning students with routine follow-up testing.

Missouri currently has the 10th highest case rate in the country.
