Murder charges filed in death of Joplin two-year-old

A man from Joplin has now been charged with first-degree murder in the June death of a two-year-old boy. On Monday, the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office filed additional charges against 22-year-old Brian O’Grodnick.
The prosecutor’s office had previously filed 4 counts of Child Abuse (Class D Felony). Today, additional charges of Murder in the 1st Degree, Child Abuse (Class A Felony), and Child Abuse (Class B Felony) were filed.
O’Grodnick remains in custody in the Jasper County Jail on a no-bond hold.
On June 2nd, the 2-year-old boy, identified as Jameson Long, died at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO while being treated for his injuries. He was found unconscious and not breathing May 31st at a home in the 1900 block of east 8th St. for a 2-year-old male child not conscious and not
breathing.
