The head of the coronavirus team at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center says he believes the coronavirus is being spread by a younger age group. And those younger people are leading to an increase in virus-related deaths of those 65 and older.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported Wednesday that nine of the 14 new deaths due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, were 65 and older.
Dr. Dale Bratzler of the OU Medical Center said more positive cases are being seen in the 18-35 age group, and more deaths are occurring in those 65 and older, leading to the belief the younger age group may be infecting those older.
