Cherokee County reports first COVID-19 death

Cherokee County Kansas reporting its first death from COVID-19.The health department says it was a man in his 70s who did have underlying health conditions.

Officials say the man had just gotten his positive test results before passing away at home. The county now has ten current positive cases. Three people are currently hospitalized with the virus.

On the issue of COVID-19, on Monday the county announced that they would not be enforcing Governor Laura Kelly’s statewide face mask mandate that went into effect Friday.
