Carl Junction woman dead of gunshot wound, man in custody

A Carl Junction woman is dead of a gunshot wound to the chest and a man from that community is in custody.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s office says 40-year-old Amanda Parker was transported to a local hospital just after  2 o’clock this morning where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

23-year-old Jeremiah Tyner of Carl Junction was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage. Formal charges are pending.

Parker and Tyner both were staying at the residence on County Road 270 where the incident evidently took place.

The investigation is ongoing.
