Fireworks display “on” in Joplin – with modifications

There will be a fireworks display in Joplin this year, albeit with some modifications.

Joplin Parks and Rec Director Paul Bloomberg says this year’s 2020 Independence Day Celebration will be a fireworks-only event at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th.

The fireworks will be set off on the east side of the Missouri Southern State University campus.

People can park their cars in the lots at MSSU to watch the display. Music to accompany the display will play on the Missouri Southern radio station.

Bloomberg says the event will give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the holiday while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
