NEO announces cutbacks related to coronavirus pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic is taking its toll on colleges and universities.
Northeastern Oklahoma A & M (NEO) in Miami has announced several programs with low enrollment will be eliminated.
The college will eliminate its natural resource ecology and management program and its process technology program after students relying on the courses for degree completion finish taking the classes
Seven faculty contracts will not be renewed and 10 staff members will lose their jobs.
Also, NEO’s equestrian team has been suspended for the 2020-21 season..
NEO president Kyle Stafford called the decisions to make the cutbacks “terribly difficult.”
Summer enrollment is reported to be down at NEO by about 15 percent.
