Body found in Newton County Saturday: Investigation underway

A body was found Saturday outside a residence on Finch Drive, just north of Westview School in Newton County.

Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings said the investigation is underway.

“We are currently investigating it as a homicide,” Jennings said. “The victim is being set up for an autopsy.

Sheriff Jennings said he anticipates the victim’s name will be released sometime Monday after next of kin are notified.
